The bus expander does not contain any circuitry, only lines to a front connector. This connector allows us to plug a circuit board into the ORDINATOR bus while leaving it accessible for measurement probes; this is mainly used to test hardware and diagnose hardware malfunctions. Unfortunately, this construction also generated hardware malfunctions occasionally, providing us with a challenging debugging environment.
